Where Dogs Bite the Most
Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night can stop the mail. But a dog bite may slow it down.
More than 6,700 U.S. Postal Service employees were attacked by dogs in 2016 across the country. The service releases a list of the top dog attack cities each year.
The Postal Service warned that if a letter carrier feels threatened by a dog, the owner may be asked to get their mail at the post office instead of getting delivery.

Bites Can Be Costly
A bite-prone dog could cost a homeowner big bucks. Dog bites and other dog-related injuries comprised a third of homeowner insurance liability claims in 2016, according to the Insurance Information Institute and State Farm.
While insurers normally cover dog bite liability legal expenses, they may charge higher premiums if they see a dog as an increased risk. (Your credit score may also affect your premium. View two of your credit scores free on Credit.com.)
